Today, while cruising a local shop, I spied this Para P12-45 ACP, with a 3 1/2" barrel. It was in the original box and included 3-13 round mags. It had been tuned by Wilson Combat and they also applied their Ceracote finish. I think I will prefer a 1911 hi-cap to a polymer framed gun. This is my first and hopefully I will like it. Although I am trying to consolidate my collection, I bought it anyway. :D

Nice gun, Dave. My 14's were a bit heavy to lug around, but the 12 was just right. I never had trouble carrying it, but it always felt butt heavy and if I was using a holster without a thumb break, felt that I could drop it if moving quickly, due to the short barrel. Mine was a great shooter.

I think that you will be pleased with your purchase. Our latest Para was the Big Hawk, an alloy framed, full sized high cap gun that is a fantastic shooter. Never had a problem with the Paras. Good luck with it.

I have a stainless P12-45 that I bought during the hi-cap ban, it shipped with one 10 round mag and one 12 round. I was able to buy two 12 round mags from Para then. I have not shot it for years but did put a couple thousand rounds through it and it functioned flawlessly. Whenever I think of selling it, I quickly change my mind when I pull it out of the safe and look at it. Great gun. Good luck with yours.

Dave, that looks nice! I recently saw and handled a similar Para at a LGS, but it didn't have the aftermarket tuning, etc that yours exhibits. The one I handled had a very good price on it and they were ready to deal some more but I ended up passing on it. Very interested in how yours shoots, handles, etc.

I think you will like it. I've had a P-14 in the collection for a very long time. A great shooter. I sent it to Robar in the early 90's and had it done two-tone. Black RoGuard over NP3. Grips by VZ.

I like the Para, but........for some reason, the slide does not always go far enough to the rear to pick up the next round or stay open on the last shot. May be too stiff a recoil spring, not enough lubrication, or too tight in the slide area. I'm not giving up. Will give it a good chance to succeed. When it cycles, which is most of the time I like the high capacity in such a compact 1911 type platform.
