First Order From Missouri Bullets

Just placed my first order with MO Bullets. Ordered 500 each, 358, LSWC, hardness rated 18, bullets.

With the scarceness and pricing of 357 ammo these days, this really is the way to go for me.

Realyy looking forward to working with these. Going to use some Unique, AA #5 and some universal Clays.

FWIW, $41 total cost. Hard to beat.

Thanks for the advice. Think that around 1100 fps will do it? More?

I was going to use the equation to determine Brinell hardness needed on their site, but my manuals don't list CUP's for the loads I was looking for.

I used to use Speer WC's and SWC's at around 800 to 900 fps without any major leading. Haven't tried the Missouri's yet.

Well, I'll be doing some experimenting soon. Looks like it will start with some AA #7 or #9 rather than the faster powders I mentioned.

A Brinnell hardness of 11 or 12 is good to 1200 fps. IIRC, Elmer Keith did all of his work with about 12 hardness. As a previous poster said, a bullet that is too hard will lead somewhat easier, as it doesn't obturate and fill the grooves. Don't sweat it; your bullets will shoot just fine. Your barrel may have a bit more leading than with a softer bullet. No big deal. Next time, you can buy a lower hardness bullet.

Pressure should be up around 25,000psi with bullets that hard. Have fun! I am a big fan of MO bullets. I usually use their softer bullets.

FWIW, I buy bullets from Georgia Arms, they claim Lyman alloy #2 with a Brinnell of 18. I have fired several thousand rounds (RNFP) through my Blackhawk at loadings indicating about 900 fps. I have not had a leading problem.

With my huntin loads with lead boolits I start wth 14grs. of h-110 & go until I reach published data or strip some alloy!!

2400 has to go to hi before it cleans up & burns good


Most of the time I wind up in the 1250 1350 range .
My alloy is 10.5 bhn isotope lead.

These went 1150 fps a 357446 went to 1350 same alloy!
