"Parts" being what they are, the times I have observed and even accomplished(much to my dismay) damaging the finish and/or surface of the alloy receivers on 10 22's, occurred because of the surface variations of scope bases. And I would suspect that excess tightening of the base screws may have been a factor as well. I recall that my last venture into the issue was to use black electrical tape for the buffer material...........

Fingers crossed that I didn't damage the finish. If so the base goes back on with a scope. I like the looks of the rifle without the scope. I plan on shooting it every now and then but with great care.
Thanks Hawkeye"
