The last day of 2024 was also my first day of 1911 ownership - and its an SR1911. I have a decent sized assortment of other Rugers, including several OM single actions, a GP100, a few M77s, a Red Label, and a few auto pistols, but no 1911s at all. However, the SR 1911 has been on my radar for a good while.

The day after Christmas, I was goofing around on GunBroker, and ran across a very-slightly-used model 6700. It was a real $0.01 start, no reserve auction, quite a rarity these days it seems. A quick S/N check showed it as a 2023-shipped gun. Also noticed it was located at a shop about 80 miles from home, that has lots of positive feedback on GunBroker. I confirmed with them I could drive there, do my NICS check, and take it home. I put in a single max bid (that would have been a great deal) and wound up with it for $34 under my max.

So on New Year's Eve, a good friend and I drove up there, did the paperwork (which went amazingly quickly) and brought it home. Just a little over $600 out the door, with sales tax and GB fees, but of course no shipping or ship-to FFL transfer. Full package with the nice black/red plastic case, both factory mags, and manual. Only item that seems to be missing is the bushing wrench. It is in as-new condition. I'm fairly certain only the 7-round mag has ever been loaded, and I doubt it has fired more than a few dozen rounds of ammo in total. To say I am happy is an understatement!

A quick shout out to Ultimate Defense Firing Range in St. Peters, MO. Very quick reply to my inquiry about picking up in person, and just nice courteous folks to work with.

Congratulations on your purchase of a nice
1911. I suspect you will really enjoy it. I really
like my 2011 SR 1911 Full Size 45ACP.

The SR 1911 has been a wise decision and
the best shooting 1911 I've owned. It has
operated flawlessly with my reloads and
factory manufactured ammo. Right out
of the box it appeared to be accurate and
I contribute that to the nice trigger and
tightness of manufacturing.

Being a single action, then semi-automatic
it's safeties make it safe to handle, easy to
operate, easy to shoot, easy to disassemble/
assemble, and easy to clean.

My Avatar has my SR 1911.

Congratulations,
IMO,the SR-1911 is the best 1911 for the money spent.
My first one (2011) got "possessed" by my son…🙄 … I really wanted a early gun,
Thanks to a fellow forum member…😳
This gun was an excellent replacement. Shipped in 2012….🧐 Not a 2011 Ship date but a very nice 2 digit…😎
