I'm guilty of bad mouthing Ruger when it comes to their "loose" dimensioning with the .45 BH but this group with Win 225 gr Silvertips in my .456" pre warning would certainly bring home the venison I think. I fired 3 rds and went to check target. You can guess which three! ..

If your chamber throats are all close to the same size, go pick up an older Lyman 454424 mold and cook up some Keith SWCs. Size them to .455" or .456" and watch the groups tighten up significantly.

Been there, done that with my S&W 25-5 (.457") throats.

Thanks for the tip Joe. Taffin claims that the 454490 GC is another good 'un accuracy wise, but who want's gas checks if not needed! I'd like advice on an accurate 300-325 gr cast bullet mold......Dennis

Dennis,

The most accurate bullet I've fired from my various .45 Colts is the Lyman 454190 cast from plain wheel weights and sized to .454" or .4555.". This bullet closely duplicates the factory bullet, carries a lot of lube and just shoots great. It's too bad it has such a tiny meplat.
