In the book Snake River Country.
A bit of history on the Snake River.
Farewell bend Oregon campground. Nice spot for camping and fishing. Old photo showing ferry in same location of Oregon trail. Sand dunes on the right. Farewell bend just out of sight on the left. And that is not me in the car 😀.

Nice campground, the city of Huntington just north of the park as a lot of deer living in and around the tiny city. Another interesting place nearby is Van Ornum battlefield. It was Oregon trail pioneer's vs Indians in 1860.

Not real certain that I would call Huntington a "city". Might give outsiders the wrong impression. Pretty sure there is not more than 300-400 people there, and this would include a fairly large surrounding area.
As Wayno said---lots of great places in this state as long as you steer clear of the few cesspools.
