were there factory rubber grips for both the Service Six and Speed Six? Or was is just for the Speed Six? I just won a set of two on E-bay and I'm waiting for them to be delivered. The seller had them listed as coming off a Service Six- round butt. Either way they were worth the money but Im hoping he meant Sevice Six square butt. If not I may have to round butt my grip frame.

Well I got the grips in the mail. They are both round butt ruger medallion grips. Rats, I needed the square butt ones! The CDNN grips are a good deal but don't have the Ruger medallions, however I might go that way for now.

The thing is, you might want to get in touch with the grip seller to see if you can buy that round butt Service Six. Some of the Service Sixes had the butts ground down by the factory to sell as Speed Sixes, then some of those shipped with rubber grips and letter as GS32P (Speed Six with Pachs). Kinda rare and a neat collectible.

By the way, the factory Pachs for the square butt guns (Service Six and Security Six) are square butt grips and do not have finger grooves.

WMG- thanks for the pics and history. Thats what I love about the Ruger forum. Ask a question and get a detailed answer with a picture thrown in to boot! Wayno- I might get back to you if I decide to turn loose of one pair of these-still undecided about which way to go. I could grind the frame to speed six configuration but I hate to change something they are not making anymore. PM me if you have any trades that might interest me?

I recently traded into a 150 series speed six and am having big time problems trying to find some grips that fit the older 150 frame. Seems like everything out there is for the 151-up frame size.

Factory wood grips for the 150 frame is what I prefer in combination with a Tyler T-grip. I think I'll put a Want To Buy in the classifieds and see if anyone responds.

I have an assortment of T-grips for S&W and Colt revolvers. A T-5 for a Colt seems to fit the front radius of the frame and the grip panel as positioned in the above pic.

Thanks for your suggestions!

I am contemplating picking up another Six for my collection. I currently have two Security sixes (2.75" and 6"). I found a 4" blued Six (150- series) locally and I may buy it...but I'm worried about finding rubber grips for it. I have the Sile rubber grips from CDNN on both my Sixes and love them. Does anyone know if the Sile speed six grips at CDNN http://www.cdnninvestments.com/rubspeedsixr.html can be modified to fit a 150 series gun???

I don't know who is correct about the "original" comments. I too have two Security Six's (Series 159 and 161). They both came with wood grips and a square butt.

I also have one set of square butt rubber grips with a Ruger medallion. I have had them all so long that I don't remember where I got it though. I don't have them on either gun. The wood grips look better on blue revolvers.

Oddly, my Speed Six (Series 162) has a round butt and came with rubber grips.
