factory bobbed SP101

Here is the pic of the factory hammer I mistakenly talked about in the GS-92 thread. This hammer type is noted in the on pg 193 of Ruger & His guns. When my dad got the gun, it was noted as an experimental hammer and the normal hammer is in the box. Note it is a true DA not a DAO. The factory doesn't recognize it as a true experimental though

Very interesting as they later used it as a DAO hammer (which makes no sense to me except as a government contract requirement for a holster hammer retaining strap) on the 'State Dept.' Contract guns sold by CNN a couple of years ago. So, in the end, it wasn't experimental, as it was used in a production gun.

It makes much more sense to me as a SA/DA (true Double Action) concealable hammer than it does as a Double Action Only (DAO) hammer. Has there been any documentation from the factory end on the 'State Dept.' guns?
