Man, was it a expensive trip to the range today. I walked right by the case, and stopped in my tracks. There, in the case, was a pre lock Smith and Wesson Model 66-2 looking up at me! I had to track the boss down, as I get there before any of his employee's, and had a look-see. Looked like almost new, and he only had $400 on it! (He even let me have it for $400 even, no tax!) So, it went home with me. Didn't get to shoot it, as I had all .44s today and didn't have ammo. And as much as I like my ex-boss, I aint gonna pay what he asks for ammo! Done some checking on gunbroker, and most people are asking $600 on up to over a grand for one! Don't know what got into Kenny, as he usually prices the old Smiths high. He must have robbed some little old lady out of that gun!

Good as it gets. My 66-3, a one of three hundred performance center made for Lew Horton. It`s a 3" ported, triljon sight etc.

I have a couple of Smiths but by no means a Smith guy.
I've heard the term pre lock, but don't really know what it means.
Im guessin like out old models? What are the features?

The new one's have a key lock right above the cylinder release. Ugly as all get out. They also no longer have the firing pin on the hammer, and extensively use MIM parts.

I have a 3" 66 made for Ashland in the '80s. Love it, just love it.

I also have an early '70s 4" 19, but haven't actually shot it in years. Actually, my son pretty much has it now. Apparently my daughter in law has grown fond of it.

Very good deal on that 66!
Here's my Model 66 no dash.

Consider me jealous. Nothing like a 3 inch Smith in the beauty department.

OR the handling department. It's difficult to adequately describe just how perfect this gun feels.
