Excitement in Alaska

Family and I visited some friends up in Ak on the Kenai peninsula a couple years ago. I did not take a handgun like a total dummy, but did have bear spray. Felt very vulnerable out and about hiking / fishing in the Skilack area.
Will be flying with a handgun next time...unless someone sets up a rental service

I think you would be ahead to bring a gun you are familiar with and know where the ammo you are using in said gun hits. The first shot is incredibly important, and it's important you can intelligently operate during round after round.
