This is what I have attached to the multi-tool pouch I carry with me. I use it with a AA battery, but it has an optional upgraded battery for extra bright operation. I think it's bright enough with just the alkaline.
For its size, it throws a good bit of light. I've had mine for 4 years now and it still works great.

I bought a number of the little cheap aluminum ones from Amazon that run off on AA battery and like them. Have them around the house ... sometimes the switch on the back is a little troublesome but not often...
My one gripe about flash lights these days... Why can't they make one that has two functions... ON & OFF?

Fenix is a very good light; my Fenix is at least 12 years old and uses 1 AA battery, I've dropped it so many times and it just keeps on working. I use it every day and I change the battery about once every three months. When the battery goes south the light just won't turn on, put in a new battery and I'm good to go. Streamlight and Coast are also very good flashlights. MC
I used to carry an 'expensive brand' compact light but after losing one and having another ruined by leaking Duracell batteries, I just buy EverReady or whatever looks best on the rack @ Menards. The one on the belt of my 'house pants' right now will blind a possum on the porch or illuminate a road sign 200 yards away and cost $10-12.

Best buy hands-down in a flashlight -- Energizer PMHT1L, available at Walmart, about $14 -- and I ain't kidding, equivalent lights can go $200+. Buy half-a-dozen, put one in your pocket, one in each vehicle, one on the nightstand...

Unless you require the "throw" of the 6P consider adding a SF Stiletto. I have both now, that Stiletto goes everywhere. It goes where a pocket clipped knife would go. With a very robust clip it can be used on a ball cap like a head lamp. I transitioned to dropping my knife into my pocket a few years ago, so it wasn't an issue putting the light there.
Some of the best EDC flashlights I've ever used were in those displays on the check out counter at the local NAPA or Oriellys. Led and AAA batteries
thanks for all the suggestions guys. I ordered this one a couple of days ago from Midway USA...... Streamlight ProTac 1L-1AA Flashlight Coyote..... It should be here Wednesday. And then, I go to the new Bass Pro Shop in Grand Prairie, TX today and found it in person for only $3 more. Bummer! Oh well, here's hoping it is a good one.

I have couple of the Streamlight Pro Tac 1L-1AA lights and they seem to work very well---I like that they can be powered by both CR123 batteries or AA batteries, but I dislike the rather fussy Ten-Tap switch system---I far prefer a simple switch for operation...
I find the much cheaper Energizer flashlights to be very usable and they can be had in CR123 form or just AA form, and they do the job just fine---besides, you really need several small lights around as there are so many places to keep them---like cars, shed, pockets, scattered around the house, etc...
The other day, we had a brief power outage during the night time---the wife and I were sitting on the couch watching TV when everything went dark---I simply reached forward to the coffee table and grabbed an Energizer light and we were able to see enough to avoid tripping on the sleeping dogs on the floor... At this time, I probably have a dozen+ small flashlights with a mix of CR123 types and AA battery types...

Looks like that's the same or very similar to what I'm carrying for a utility light. Takes a licking and keeps on working.

I've had a NEBO rechargeable flashlight for about a year now, maybe a bit longer. $31.00 plus tax. Charged it up to full when I brought it home and I hardly used it except for when there was a power failure I kept forgetting to recharge it until about two weeks ago when a thunderstorm knocked out the power. Darn thin was still as bright as when I first charged after the power was back on I plugged it in and it only took about 20-25 minutes for the red light to turn blue. Seems it holds a charge quite well. I've been thinking about getting a couple more. It has three settings, very bright, moderste bright and off and on bright blnking. I don't need that third setting and the moderate setting is good enough when the power goes out. It also has a very sturdy metal clip and is small enough to fit nicely into a shirt pocket. I like it.

A first report on the Streamlight ProTac 1L-1AA, It came yesterday and it arrived in perfect condition. Midway boxed it very well. It has 3 modes, high, strobe, and low. One click for high, two for strobe, and three for low. I didn't like that so did the 10 tap reprogram and now it is a high only. I do not have to cycle through any other modes. I absolutely love it. It takes 1 CR-123 battery and gets 350 lumens. In a pinch, it can also take 1 AA battery, but only gets 150 lumens with that. I got a pack of 12 CR-123 batteries from Amazon for not much $$. I should be good with this flashlight for quite a while. It came with a belt sheath, not sure why though. I may try it and see if I like carrying it that way instead of clipped to my pocket. The clip is a 2 way job so I can clip it to my cap as a headlamp if needed. All in all, thus far it is an excellent purchase. $41 at Midway. $44 at Bass Pro. I used it tonight while walking the dog, it is all I need.
