Dumb question about red dot sights...

I know 1x magnification is no magnification, but what is 1x32? I assume it's very little but I'm curious. Trying to find a decent one for my brother's AK 47.

1 is the power. The 32 is the diameter of the lens. There would be no magnification.

AFAIK, The only red dot sights that have magnification achieve it via an additional, screw-on power lens/adaptor.

Although some refer to magnified telescopic rifle sights (scopes), that have red dots at their crosshair intersection as "red dots" - they are properly termed Illuminated Reticle (IR) scopes, rather than "red dot sights".
