We've got two small dogs, a poodle and a maltese.
We've been through a lot of brands of dry and canned but both had weepy eyes and itching.

It is work but we cook them food for each week, rice, frozen veggies, and chicken pieces all in one pot.
This is actually costing us less than buying them dog food and gone are the weepy eyes and itching so while we can do it we will.

We've fed ours the Kirkland brand for as long as I can remember. They all seemed to like it and have done well on it. None of them have walked away from a full bowl.

Depends on the dog. The dog we have now, an Australian Kelpie, can go from different food to different food with no issues what so ever
(Of course her favorite treat is kitty bon bon's from the litter box. Crunchy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and she has no negative reaction to that - we're the only ones that do)

Our previous dog, a Wire Haired Pointing Griffon, needed to be slowly weaned from one food to another.

Have a good friend in the dog food business and he recommended Fromm's (he doesn't work for them) so we've been giving her that.
My kelpie has to taste test his treats before eating. It's a challenge to keep the dachshunds from stealing from him. No cats, so kitty bon bons are out.

Not to malign McDonald's grub as being dog food, I thought a separate thread would be better. In fact, I just read today about their fish sandwich, how they are actually somewhat healthy.

But, dog food...

On the other thread I commented on what our doggies eat. Their food changed from 26 pounds originally, down to 22 and now it's down to 18 pounds per bag. Meanwhile, the price is staying the same.

It's Wellness Core Grain Free Ocean flavor. However, the Wellness brand dog food is made in the USA. My wife and I are very particular about making sure all the dog treats and food are made in either the USA or Canada.

The grain free in their food is for no particular reason. I can't say why, it just happened to be the food we bought way back when. Blizzard is 8 1/2 and it's all he's eaten. I call our dogs fat, but they are actually very healthy and the correct size for Australian Shepards. Both being about 65 pounds.

I'm not sure if the grain free is healthier or not.

But I'm curious about switching dog food. I know cats are very particular. You can slowly change the food they eat. Is it the same with dogs?

What do y'all feed your dogs?

Here is the excerpt from the other thread about McDonald's food prices:

What are you feeding them? We feed our pack of German Shepherds Purina Pro Plan Performance 30/20 (protein/fat) salmon and rice, and it's @ $75 for 33 lbs.

We go through about 6 bags per month...
I used to feed my dogs Muenster dog food made in Muenster TX. It's sold at a select few feed and retail stores. My wife decided to change to Rachael Ray for convenience reasons.

I was feeding Purina’s Basic instinct Venison and Turkey, but Chewy only has the 30 lb bags as does TSC! Now I can’t even find the Turkey Venison blend so I have switched to the Chicken/Rice formula, that she eats better. Oh well the price is going up!

I feed my Chesapeake Wellness brand food (plus raw meat) and switch the varieties often.

Ours takes after my wife and doesn’t like my cooking. ;-) Actually, she gets the Cesar canine cuisine, with some pumpkin (from a can) mixed in.
