DIY Trigger Mods Mini-14 584 and up

Looking for suggestions for reducing trigger travel and pull, and getting rid of the gritty feeling and making it smoother. I'd rather do light mods or adjustments myself instead of sending out to a gunsmith. A couple of the gunsmiths I've spoken to in my area are very busy. I live in California (for the moment) and would rather not give up control of my rifle. Because it's a keeper. Suggestions or pointing me to a credible YouTube vid greatly appreciated.

Trigger work doesn't require giving up your rifle. All work done is on the removable trigger assembly.
