Difficult situation. I'd think about who if anyone in local law enforcement that I knew and trusted to have an off the record
conversation about this so you can lay out your concerns and see if they had any good suggestions.
Any local land surveyors you know that could make an obvious show of checking some property boundaries. Ag company rep
looking over your property, maybe a real estate person...???
Group of conspicuous guys doing fence work unknow to him just to get other people on his camera that he doesn't know.
Basically give him doubt about who called him in.

If he has a large number of cattle I assume he is selling them. Does your state have a Department of Agriculture? And not knowing anything about farms, cows, or anything outside of major cities and suburbia but would calling the Dept. of Agriculture make sense? If they do standard inspections they may put his farm on the top of their list without pointing the finger at you.

That is definitely a scary situation you’re in.
One thing that brought me peace of mind
around my place is, I have some Trail Cams
and Home Security Cameras set up.

A lot of good ideas mentioned above. I would
definitely be discreet and vigilant now!

Just remember, do unto others as they do
to you. Keep the Sheriff/Police and others
on speed dial.

The Best to you and Safety First.

This is a good suggestion here.

Getting a few other people on camera,, surveying the area for whatever reasons can create a bit of confusion as to who might have turned him in. HOWEVER,, it may be a bit "suspicious" if strangers appear shortly after the initial discovery.

It would be even better if the "strangers" were seen, and at the same time,, they get on the cell phone & call the local LEO's & whomever they can. WITHOUT leaving the area. That way,, the LEO's can arrive, and start an investigation.

But before "strangers" try & go out there,, you need some time to elapse,, to where you become less of a suspect to this FELON, so he may not think you were the one to initiate the investigation.

I FULLY understand the pause of action for the potential fear of this FELON doing his arson thing to you, or your family. Having had a felon commit arson upon my family in 1978,, (burning down my Dad & Mom's business,) makes me just as cautious. The LEO's in our case were never able to actually catch the thugs who did this,, but we all had enough circumstantial evidence to know who was responsible. I was in the Army when the fire happened,, and upon my return in late 1979,, it took me a few years to get some direct info that pretty much proved to me who was responsible.

Caution is a good thing right now for this situation.

Our north farm is bordered by land owned by an absolutely disgusting individual. Two years ago, we built a new fence which has been literally destroyed by cattle kept on the neighboring land. Our renter had some problems with the landowner about the fence damage. We knew he was overstocked and the cattle were starving but today we found just had bad it has become. We were clearing brush along another fence row and discovered a PILE of dead cattle in an out of sight depression. The side I saw was mostly just bones and dried hide but Son said he saw dozens of fairly fresh(less than a month dead) from a different vantage point.
An odd detail: Son also discovered one of those game cameras that send real time pics to a cell phone. It was semi-hidden and aimed toward our side of the fence like maybe they were concerned that we might see or investigate the dead livestock just across the fence.
I should report this animal cruelty case but am fairly sure it would end with something far worse. I'm not really afraid of this guy but he's a convicted felon and I'm not the only one who might be endangered. Thirty years ago this guy's wife left him and moved back to her parent's house with their kids. The guy burnt the parent's house with everyone inside. We've already had a 'guns out' confrontation and a couple of less deadly FTF 'disagreements' so I have little doubt that something similar might occur if it's even suspected I've filed a complaint.
We've been seen on the trail cam and the only ones who could/would be in a spot to see the dead pile so would be the first to receive retribution.
Neighbor should have had an unfortunate wood chipper accident after the first threatening encounter.

Sounds like a nice guy, he should be put in the pile with his cattle! I mean that in the nicest way of course!
