cylinder "lock up"

Whelp, I did a search as per your suggestion. It turns out that my analogy to an aero radial engine might be spot on, that being: it works, don't it?

I've seen you use the word "whelp" several times on the Forum.

My only understanding of the word is in relation to birthing canines.

Googling its use as slang only gave me a (very) foggy meaning, which I didn't really understand.

Could you please explain its meaning? I'm sure I'm not the only old timer here who is confused! 😂

whelp, it's an attempt on my part to sound colloquial, and folksy.

I tend to write in a conversational tone, as though the imagined reader and myself were sitting around the kitchen, drinking a bit of rye, and maybe I had too much.

"well" is the message, as in: "well this is a fine kettle of fish you've gotten us into" Ollie said to Stan.
But the rye is making me slur my words.

good to know someone is drinking with me.
