Getting holsters for some revolvers is tough, made tougher still by certain brands like the BFR.
I found a fellow on Ebay who would make a holster for my BFR with heavy leather using a foam template I made as he did not have a plastic mold.
Well it came in and it did not fit the BFR but did the Blackhawks. He suggested wet forming it but initially I dismissed that tack. But I'd really like to carry the BFR's fishing so I decided to wet mold it.
I soaked the heavy leather for 15 minutes I slipped (forced) my Saran wrapped gun into it and decided to go one further by making the mouth more of a wide mouth using a wedge shoe stretch form so it would drop in. After a couple of days drying it's now easily as good a fit as my purpose built Simply Rugged holster for my other BFR.
This is my third of fourth wet mold (a couple vacuum formed) holster and I'll likely do it for many from now on.
