I just got another revolver today . A new model 22lr/22mag convertable. I noticed there is no serial numbers etched into the cylinders and the magnum cylinder says magnum around the outside. Is this how all new convertables do theie cylinder s now.
Thanks

The Vaquero I bought a couple of weeks ago had the last 3 digits of the serial inscribed on the cylinder, and it only came with the one cylinder! 44 mag by the way.

That's what it looks like to me, from the catalogue.

yes, the "new" models 22's after the mid 1970's had their "magnum" cylinder rollmarked around the outside..as for the numbers, they may have the last 3 digits, with or without some sort of "other" symbol or letter either on the front ( the usual spot) or they may be on the rear......these days, BOTH are usually marked, and at times only ONE of them, or just maybe ( and we have seen it also) NO markings at all, maybe they were in a hurry, maybe it was quitting time or Friday afternoon ,late..................do they time, lock up, on all 6 chambers??
if they fit and work , you can always mark them yourself with an electric pencil, or even a numeric hand stamp. That way you will always "know" which ones are YOURS and for THAT gun..........if your were here, I'd do it for you, won't be the first, NOR the last ones we will ever mark......

I don't have a electric pencil but I have stamping dies you hit with a hammer. Woud that be ok to use on the cylinders. The do lock up and spin fine. Probably a friday gun. Thanks

yes, that would be just fine, that's what the factory used in the early days of the "convertibles, and Colt also did theirs that way,, used a hand stamp, small numbers 1/16th or the next size up, but I'd say 1/8th is a bit too big...not sure of the next size,"something 32'nds"..........
the last 3 digits and in between the chambers, close to the center ( gas seal hub)

do that and you;ll drive a bunch of collectors "nutz" in the future....... 8)
