Yesterday I took my niece to have some outpatient surgery done. So I was confined to a rather small waiting room. However there were two very nice women waiting, one maybe in her early fifties, the other slightly older. Both professed to be Christians, and were members of local churches. As we talked the subject sort of turned to guns and carrying. The older lady did not carry yet, but was interested in buying a gun for home protection. The other had a 9mm S&W of some model, and told me she was due to take a safety course that evening, which was part of a defense course. And we had a little prayer before we parted.

And, you know what? Both of them hugged me as we parted.

Reading Dean Koontz's "Frankenstein" series and yesterday, in Book 4, there was a scene where the "monsters" tried to take over a Church Social. Almost every male and half the women were carrying and stopped the takeover right quick, most of them escaping!!

Almost all the women I know have carry permits, including my wife (a G-43 and a G-17). Most opt for a G-43 or small-frame .38. We're here in eastern Washington in a town of about 35K (50-55K in the valley)

BTW: My wife was excused from a jury when she said she was from a household with firearms. The lawyer said "Not your husband" and she answered that she hunted, had several defensive firearms of her own, and believed in the Second Amendment! This was before we moved from SoCal to eastern WA via NorCal.

I wonder if that one woman who admitted carrying had it with her in the waiting room. Here in AZ there's a state law forbidding firearms or other weapons. I had one ER doc freak out when I had to go for a problem and EMTs arrived. I still had my knife clipped to my pants. Had security all over me about that. I got it straightened out and when I was released they actually gave me my knife back. I'd thought I'd lost it for sure.

Hospitals are not covered under any blanket prohibition (as Gonvernment buildings or Post Offices) but all are legally posed at entrances or parking lots. But this was an out patient clinic and there was no posted prohibition.

Tennessee does require a certain format for signage to be binding.

I asked one of my doctors, who is a younger man about their signs and asked who would protect patients if an armed person came in with mayhem on their minds and he said we would call 911

Duh! The NO GUN sign is already protecting them!

That’s how they think. Which is why we can’t convince them of anything. To make matters worse they think we are the stupid ones!

That just might do it these days!

And, nice encounter threre, Bob. I don't know how that would go here and now with all of the Coastal (East and West) immigrants who are now residents.

Its good that his things for his Niece went well!
Its good that the women admitted to carrying.
Its amazing that they hugged a stranger when they left.
Bob, you are truly a lucky guy!
