I sold my SPNY (NYPD DAO version of the SP101) to a friend of mine. He would like to make it capable of firing with the hammer cocked. Is there anything else I would have to do other than replace the spurless hammer with a spurred one? I fieldstrip my Gp100 and the hammer easily comes out. I know I would have to find a hammer first, and Ruger will not sell me one, but just would like to know in case I get lucky and find one.

The hammer swap was an easy solution for me a couple of years ago. IIRC, a user here was going to take the spur off of his hammer and I wanted a spurred hammer. A PM or so later and we were exchanging hammers in the mail.

AFAIK, sources for hammers would be purchase or trade with someone. Used to be Ruger wouldn't sell the part.
