Celebs you have met...

Only "celeb" I ever met was Cal Ripken. His sister and I bowled together years ago. I actually knew Ellie and Mom (Violet) better than the boys.
I knew Chris Franz before he was in the 'Rock & Roll" hall of fame. He played drums in my driveway with my boys and the kid up the street, as a kid himself.

I met a couple of rock stars if that counts Steven Taylor and heuy Lewis but the funniest story is Steven Taylor in Maui we went to actually get married there and my wife and son who lived there at the time went on a whale watching boat and on the way back there's thus jerk on one of those Motor surf boards weaving in and out it's was yours truly so the boat we were on pump up walk this way it was kinda fun

Dog the Bounty Hunter came to a church I was going to. My niece got her picture taken with him and his autograph. I ain't much for being star struck so I just cordially sad hi and introduced my nice to him and after the photo op moved on.

The fact that my Dad was in the entertainment industry,, I grew up in a manner that allowed me to meet quite a few musicians, actors etc. And as an adult,, I've never been bashful in places where various celebrity types have been at. Sometimes at the SHOT Show,, or other places, I've been fortunate to meet & talk to quite a few "known" people. Living in NC,, and basically Nascar country,, I've met quite a few known drivers etc.
In short,, my list is quite long,, and I would have to spend a lot of time trying to remember them all.

But I'll share one of the most memorable encounters.

Being friends with Nascar driver/car builder's son,, (Jody Matthews,) when his dad, Banjo Matthews passed away,, I of course went to the visitation. After seeing a few drivers, and quietly acknowledging them with a simple "Hi" allowing them to visit with the family & all, NEVER invading their space, I saw the perfect response to a lady who went a bit ga-ga over Bobby Allison.
As were were leaving the funeral home,, Bobby was on his way inside. A lady in front of me suddenly went into a star-struck fan,, and said; "OH, OH, Oh,, you're, you're,, " and before she could finish,, Bobby quietly said; "No mam, I used to be" and kept walking, I couldn't contain a chuckle,, and choked out; "Hi Bobby" He stopped a moment, grinned at me,, and shook my hand. He went on in, and I went on out. That lady was still standing there,, off to the side,, a bit stunned.
Bobby showed real class with that one!

I've always had the upmost respect for personalities,, because they do get a lot of rude interruptions at inconvenient times.

I have a funny one about Ted Nugent as well, but I can't use the language he used on a guy who burst into the bathroom at SHOT,, where Ted was taking a relief break. Ted & I had already met a few times & he'd recognize me when we'd meet. When he came into the bathroom he said "Hi" to me,, and I replied back. Then a guy came in & was a bit star struck. He rushed to Ted, and wanted to engage him in conversation.
Ted's reaction & response was outstanding, and I was laughing out loud! As that guy slinked off, Ted turned to me,, winked & smiled.
Ted knows a LOT of 4-letter words & he used several on that guy for interrupting his bathroom break.

Those are just a few little things I can share. But my list of famous folks,, well, too long to worry about.

I bumped into and actually chatted for a while with Gerald Mcrainey once in the Uniform Store on Camp Pendleton when they were in development for Major Dad.

My company set up a piece of equipment and participated in an episode of Kitchen Nightmares, and I spoke several times to Chef Gordon Ramsey. He was very personable and patient, nothing like his persona. I also met briefly with Guy Fieri during the Super Bowl tailgate party in Los Angeles a couple of years ago, another time my company supplied equipment for an event. Guy was a bit of jerk in person, again the opposite if his on-screen persona.

I had Christmas Dinner at my mother's house in Wynnewood, OK with Joe Maldonado, the Tiger King. My sister drove a truck for him when he transported lions and tigers to fundraising events around the country. He is just as much of a nut case as he is reported to be, but kind of fun to spend a little bit of time with.

The only one I have been around perhaps a dozen times or so when he visits Hubbard Texas and sit with him a bit is Dennis Quaid. His mother's side of the family are named Jordan. He visits the small farm town fairly regularly to visit his grandparents graves in Hubbard and will hang out at the diner for breakfast or dinner between attending church services spending time with his uncles and cousins. Hubbard is just over the county line from Limestone county, my mother in law and her siblings grew up about 12 miles from Hubbard and all the small farm towns so they all knew each other and often were kin in some way.
Small towns are like that. Mom grew up in Wewahitchka Florida. I've heard the tales.

I met and talked with a lot of NASCAR drivers when I was working at Dover Downs racetrack (armed security off duty job while I was in the USAF). One Saturday evening I was working in the control section and it was kinda slow after the Busch series race. I was standing in the door way and Junior Johnson came up, looked at my name tag and said,"Officer Lutz have you seen the King (Richard Petty) recently?" I replied, "Yes sir Mr. Johnson, he's up in the indoor grandstand giving interviews with the press." He told me, "You don't have to call me Mr. Johnson, just call me Junior." I said, "In that case you can just call me Ron". He said he'd wait here until the King can down. Then the Budwieser Girls came down out of the grandstand and walked by (yes, in their bathing suits). We both said "Goodnight Ladies, have a good evening" They all smiled and said "Thank you". And yes our heads swiveled and we watched them as then went by. When they were out of sight Junior turned to me and said, "Ron, they sure are easy on the eyes aren't they?" and I said, "They sure are Junior." We both laughed and then Richard Petty can down the steps and Junior went to talk to him.

Had an in line conversation withTony Dorsett at a kentucky Fried chicken on day during their strike season.
Gave class catalogues to Charlie Waters and Randy White from my little guard shack while working as a non-commissioned officer at the Univ. of Texas at Dallas.
Dale Milford, a retired channel 8 weatherman from Dallas, after his career was over. He had a bad cordless phone in the house.

Y'all got me beat by a mile... I was having a meal one night with a woman and she was so drunk she fell out of her chair and rolled under the table and a guy walked by and asked if I needed help and I told him no I could take care of it. He was the country singer Don Williams. I don't know if politicians matter but I did meet both Strom Thurmond and another one.. that one was in the house I was sweeping the chimneys in and he was living in for a while... George W. Bush.
