I'd like to ask you something about an OM Super I just got. It is in beautiful shape but had been sent back to Ruger many years ago for their transfer-bar conversion. Original parts were saved and I am in the process of re-installing them. I noticed that the original hammer has quite a sloppy fit(about .010" clearance) in the frame recess. I thought you might be able to advise me about something I am considering doing before I put the gun back together. I was thinking about fitting a couple of .002-.003 circular shims, one on either side of the hammer, over the pivot screw to take most of that slop out of the hammer. To my thinking, that might stabilize the hammer and perhaps give a more uniform trigger pull (I may shoot this gun a little, with mild 44 Special handloads), along with centering the hammer enough so that the unsightly rub marks that were on the hammer sides (I've polished them out) do not re-occur. Your thoughts/warnings?
