Bull barrel 10/22

I was looking at 10/22s with heavy barrels and I noticed one that had a red, white, and blue stock and the barrel is free floated. The other two 10/22s had bull barrels, but were just in a standard stock. My question is with such a heavy barrel and being as it's just a 22 lr is free floating really necessary? I can't see a barrel that heavy flexing at all.

Did you notice if the ones in the standard stock had a barrel band? I doubt if they did... so they were free floating too.

I kind of agree with you... I modified my Butler Creek folding stocks to take a .920 barrel and used the heavy nylon wire ties to make a barrel band.
