Agreed but that also takes time and adds to labor costs.
Then complaints about raising prices and even longer manufacturing / delivery time will go up.

Ruger has always had the reputation of building robust guns. Why you by a Vaquero over a Uberti if you plan to shoot the crap out of it. If they don’t pay more attention and build the reliable guns they are known for their reputation and sales will take a hit. Better to build it right, charge what is needed, than loyal customers having broken guns after very light use, as in this case. All about stock price and their poor sales and falling reputation are not good for stock prices. Bill must be dying twice!!
As a gunsmith I have received few Rugers that need repair, not saying none, but few. Ruger is good to send repair parts. Taurus repair is an epic and never ending story.
If you get a label from Ruger, you can ship to them. They can send it back to you after repair.

Called Ruger again just to see if there is inconsistency in the customer service. Sadly the response was the same. Pawl is factory fitted, send it in and we will fix it, wont know that cost until it arrives. Ruger would not send me a pawl by itself. Offered the $45 fedex shipping label, though as others have said, I thought Fed Ex stopped excepting handguns. Maybe a label from Ruger constitutes an ffl actually shipping it. Regardless, $45 to ship and assume they repair it for free, if not, the price goes up.
I asked about this seemingly being a issue with the small frame indexing cylinders. He said nope, possibly a one off defect, or miss handling on my part. Ill just buy the pawl and fit it in. Not sure Ill buy any new Rugers anymore, this is the newest one I own by about 25 yrs, circa 2017. Has 198 rounds through it and broken already. Hmmm.
