Breakfast shock

Help Support Ruger Forum:

Breakfast has gone up everywhere even without the eggs. Eggs here in Va. are $3.34 an 18 count of Grade A large with a $0.65 off coupon that can be used 5 times at my Kroger. My wife and I eat eggs every day.

The wife and I go out for B'fast about once every 2 weeks and a really good steak or fish dinner about once every 2 months. For B'fast we usually go to "Eggs Up" I think it is some kind of chain restaurant, but it is very good. 2 eggs, 3 pieces of bacon or sausage, with home fries and toast and coffee. cost about $10 so I can't complain.

Well don't go to Sonic when your in a hurry. A SuperSonic Cheesburger, Fries and drink will hit you for $12 and change. And they aint much of a burger. Everything is expensive!!

Remember, minimum wage has been going up. It's even higher here than the fed mandate. Then the folks who voted for the increase complain that prices are going up on goods and services. I tell complainers two things. First, you voted for it, shut up. And second, if you increase the overhead of a company, who do you think pays the increase?

The prices are what they are. I adjust accordingly. I do not resent the employees making a higher wage. I just wish the SSA and the Congress would recognize these price increases and adjust SS accordingly.

I haven't seen a dozen eggs for $0.99 in ten years. I did have my own laying hens for a while several years ago but feeding them cost more than buying eggs.

Nothing in the meal you ordered is cheap any longer except for the grits. Even bread is $3 per loaf. I paid $8 for 18 eggs a couple weeks ago and thought it was a relative deal right now.

Price of eggs? I understand that just before January 20th the Biden appointed Secretary of Agriculture order the destruction of all laying chickens. The egg shortage is artificial, created by the Biden Administration to make inflation to increase and make Trump to look bad.

I also notice the moderately priced gasoline at the local supermarket has increased to $2.999/gallon this week. This is the price it was two -three weeks ago. Last week the same gallon of gas was $2.799/gallon, what caused it to go up? The 3 month price of Conoco and Chevron stock is way down.

Gasoline went up because supplies are low right now. This is the time of year refineries shutdown process units for maintenance. They want everything serviced and back online before the spring and summer higher usage occurs.

In the L A basin the refiners would map out who was going to and when to help minimize the effect on supply. Then the government stepped in and claimed that was some sort of conspiracy. So the refiners said okay we won't do that anymore.

I bought five doz eggs yesterday for 2.49/doz. About 6 or 8 dozen will fit on the "egg shelf" at a time. When they go on sale I fill up my refrigerator and my daughters.

$3 / lb for bacon. I wait until it is on sale and buy it all. Put it right in the freezer and take out a pound every day of two. Wife cooks the whole pound at once and just microwave what we want for breakfast until it is gone and get out another one.

I eat 4 eggs, 5 pcs bacon, bottle of water and cup of tea every single morning. Every day of the year.

Might as well wipe your butt with money and throw it in the toilet as buy "food" at any of those fast food dumps.

(Soylent Green is people!).
I used to bring in snacks for my co-workers and one day I brought in some turkey jerky that was shaped in flat round pieces. After everyone had some, I was asked what it was and I simply said, "Soylent Green"!
Lots of interesting reactions by those who knew and by others after they were told what it was!
Speaking of which...someone wrote a book/article about how the Donner Party did not resort to cannibalism. Anyone ever read "Alive". Story of a sports team who crashed up in the Andes. Then I read another book (?) that said that a certain tribes in S. America would munch of warring/neighboring tribes, but that would never resort to eating their family members. Some might find stories like those interesting, if you can "stomach 'em".

My son was in town yesterday due to storm in N. Cali. and Oregon. We had lunch at Romano's Macaroni Grill since neither of us had ever been there. It was great, especially the tomato bisque soup and since, I have never had the Chicken Marsala, that was nice as well.
He is coming back next week and supposed to take me to 5 Guys for a burger. Normally, my fave burger is at the A&W, which is only two miles away from my home here in Sparks, NV. It is a double cheeseburger with onions and mushrooms. Of course an ice cream root beer float is mandatory and I usually go by a local Wendy's for fries as they stay warmer longer. I only go there once every 2-3 months. I only discovered the burger about four years ago. Shame, I didn't know about it when I was younger. I feel like I missed out on a lot of great burgers then.

Big box restaurants and their "fewd" are a joke. Some good Mom n Pop places are out there but they are hit and miss. I certainly don't miss them since I've quit traveling for work. Even then then they were avoided when possible.
Hopefully we can get this war on the food supply and those of us who make our own ended soon.

That was breakfast for 4. 3 were steak and eggs with hash browns and toast, the 4th was a Western omelet because that's what he wanted. This included 3 coffees and a diet Pepsi. The steaks were 8oz ribeye and the beverages were refilled many times.
My breakfast companions have been friends for 60 years and are some of the greatest people I know. Our server was the niece of a classmate. We spent 2 hours talking about everything under the sun and had a wonderful time. Breakfast at this place is an event. It's a local diner with several family members of the owner working there.
Ulysses was the tip!
