Brass gripframe question

Ive got a factory brass gripframe super. The brass is tarnished, and lookin
pretty dingy. Im just dyin to polish it!
Ive noticed that a lot of people(and collectors) dont.
Is there anything wrong with shinin her up?

I guess it would depend on what you plan to do with it. If you are going to shoot/hunt with it then by all means go ahead and shine her up. If you are going to keep it as an investment/collector then leave it the way it is. An honest patina is an indication of the approximate age of the piece.

your gun, your choice, some do, some don't....when polished I do not think they look as good as the 'patina' ,more yellow...............polish it and in time it will retarnish if you leave it alone, try a bit of something like ;'RIG;' and just wipe 'er down, not polish it 'per se'..............I do NOT like the look of 'mottled', finger printed, splotchy, thats a horse of a different color......

Ruger brass frames on factory lettered guns were polished.............Those sold as accessories , in the small white box, were not............

Yes...if you decide to polish it, you may try to replicate the finish on an original brass frame Blackhawk, Super Blackhawk or Old Army. May be like a 400-grit medium, not sure.
I don't think it would hurt it, some may feel different about doing that.
Now if it were an original '66 Winchester or brass frame Henry rifle, re-polishing is a big no-no.

I think im gonna go ahead and polish it up.
Its not a unfired, prestine safe queen.
Im gonna carefully fire it every now and then.
It is very clean, and i have the complete package,
so i didnt want to devalue it any.
