Ruger making Brass Grip Frames (MR3-DB) was not a success, they had porosity problems, and fitting the frame would deposit brass onto the cylinder frame causing bluing problems. The frames were sorted and used here and there, some boxed up and sold as frames only. Most of the frames ended up on Old Army’s.
The particular grip frame, used on the 30 carbine, acquired thru EBay a few years back. The Seller had a bunch. I tried hard to find out the story, no success. They were fairly nice castings, but not much extra on the sides, so careful clean up & polish was necessary.
I happen to have a few pictures of the frame as aquired.
