Has anyone ever seen such a thing ? I recently picked one up and have never seen one before. Am truly into guns and this is no rattle can amateur job . The finish is just like on the Henry. Search on the web and have not found a single one done this way. Can't believe anyone would spend the money to do a single rifle this way as it seems like it would be extremely expensive. Any thoughts ???

The Federson receiver is stamped with their name and it's an alloy.

There was a guy at RFC that machined a receiver from solid brass about 10 years ago. It was really very cool. It sounded like it was enough of a PIA that I doubt he made any additional ones to sell though.

I'm surprised that nobody has said; "Welcome to the Forum!"

Ok to get to the question about the 10/22 receiver.
As noted above,, there has been a FEW cases of colored or alternative materials used to make such stuff. I can say it's not a factory offered item.
If it's not a Fedderson,, then there are other possibilities.
Cerrakote?
Gold plating? (I know a guy who can gold plate stuff easily.)
Custom made (as noted above.)

But if I had to guess,,, due to the expense,, I'd say most likely a Cerrakoted receiver.

So, Daytona,, pull up a chair, relax & enjoy our fun Forum!

I painted one once. I got some high quality auto body touch up paint in a spray can. Did a very good job, several coats, no drips, looked really good. Clear coat, which was again a high quality auto body paint from the car parts store.

It lasted for a few hundred rounds before it started chipping where the empties were being ejected. So now it's back to the aluminum finish. Which is still nice looking.
