at a pawn shop yesterday for $200... the gun came with a single clip and no case or anything else. which is fine. I only paid 200 for it... The gun was in good condition the barel showed no scores, so i image the gun was fairly unused, however the feed ramp was dirty, the barrel was dirty, nothing major just looked as if they shot it one last time, and pawned it...

My worry is that the Gun may not fire. Is there any trick way to test the fireing pin while at the pawn shop on Wednesday when i am able to pickup the gun?

Verify the gun is unloaded, cock the hammer, point the gun toward the ceiling, put a pencil with eraser end down in the barrel, pull trigger, and see if the pencil jumps. If it does, you're fine. My guess is you're fine anyway, because P89's are pretty much bulletproof.

Well, if a store was selling me a gun and wouldn't at least guarantee it to fire, I'd have second thoughts about buying it..

Just my .02 worth...

no offense, i know im knew but, find me a pawn shop that doesnt have a gun range in their back room that guarantees guns! at least not here they dont, fairly common to not get a guaranty. the gun looked good overall tho!

and thanks, yeah i love the p89... my mother has one and i love the big grip, it fits my big hands better and more naturally. So i set out to find one and came across this one by miracle, at the pawn shop closest to my house!

I probably would not make it in the business like this... If I ran the shop the first thing I would do is clean the gun make sure it functions properly by shooting it, clean it again and charge an extra $50 for it.

You will love the p89. It was built for tankers, and you could run over it with a tank and it would still shoot. I have one and throughly enjoy it. I use it to shoot in the uspsa matches, and it does a really good job for me.
You can find extra magazines at most on-line suppliers for around thirty-five dollars.
Enjoy it.

thats basically all a used gun store does... but a pawn shop has other stuff on its mind...

im just glad i picked it up for such a great price.... i love the DA/SA, my S&W SIGMA has such a heavy trigger pull, its still a nice weapon i just wanted something better!

So i went out and bought 2 used OEM 15 round mags for $30.... pretty sweet deal... they came from a p95 but the guy assured me its the same mag.

Im hoping to buy the hogue grip today as well... this gun is gonna be my new favorite!

Congrats on finding a good p-89 at that steal of a price. I love mine with the Hogue grips. Sturdy and dependable. A bit heavy and bulky when I CC it, but I've gotten used to it.

yeah i was looking around for this gun and i drove to all the well known shops all day... and it didnt pay off because i knew id pay $369 for a used one from a shop, which is what they wanted... and id spend $200 more in accessories and bullets... which is what ive done.. thats a lot more expensive then the $400 ive spent so far!

i love the weight of the gun, it absorbs the recoil better... and the grip is big... which is great for my big hands!
