I have tried all sorts of factory ammunition in mine and find that Remington "RMG3" 240 grain hollow points work far better than others. I also tried reloading early on with mine using 240 grain bullets and "2400" powder. I developed problems after this and found that the casting holding the trigger group had cracked. Ruger had a fix then but now they do not. So, just an opinion, don't experiment with heavy loads! David

For factory ammo I have found Federal American Eagle 240gr JSP's and Winchester White Box 240gr JSP to shoot fine. Many other brands won't cycle the action.

When working up loads for your carbine H-110 is the powder of choice but you might also have success with a couple of other slow burning powders like Alliant 2400 and Accurate #9. Most other handgun powders will be too fast and not produce enough gas/pressure to run the gun. :D
