A little break from the national news:
It's blueberry season here, so picked 1/2 gallon from my bushes a couple days ago, and decided to make a pie early this morning. Dumped all of the berries in a pot to cook some of the excess water out, (sugar and lemon juice to taste) but discovered they cooked down so much it only filled the pie pan about 3/4. Hmmm. Improvise, Adapt, Overcome! Dug out an apple from the fridge and sliced a bunch of thin rings, layered them on top of the berries, covered it all up with the top crust, brushed on a beaten egg, and into the oven for about 45min at 375*.
Desert and breakfast for a couple days.
