You got it. I was able to watch them from the 'old' North Severn base one year. They flew directly over that on some of the routes. REALLY close and REALLY loud. Some years later my son-in-law's brother was the maintenance 'Gunny' with them; the wife and I got VIP passes and met the pilots and crew and got a tour of the aircraft. Quite an organization. Lots goes one 'behind the scenes' that no one ever sees or knows is happening.

Love em. I had the fortune of seeing them a lot while in the Marines. In 1980/81 the squadron I was in was the only operator of the F/A-18. With it being new the Navy/Marine Corps wanted to show it off as much as possible. During that time we would deploy one or two Hornets to all of the various airshows around the country and of course the maintainers got to go as well. That was a really neat time for me because I had not seen much of the country. Also got to see a lot of the Thunderbirds as well.
