Strider45,, it would have had to been no earlier than 1968 as that was the first year of production. And if it's a 4-digit gun under 9304,, it's a 1968 gun. in 1969,, they added the prefix of 50-xxxxx.
While $98 seems such a small price,, in 1968 or so,, it was still a fair amount.
Contender,
Was it you or someone else who did a display at one of the shows awhile back on the ,30 Carbine Blackhawks?

Contender, thanks for the info. It would have been 1969 or 70 then. I was drafted in late 1967, discharged in 1969. I thought I had purchased it before I was drafted, but guess not. It is a 50- serial number. And, yes, $98 was a lot of money then. I put it on layaway at H Cook Sporting Goods and paid it off as I could come up with the cash.

I got mine back in mid 80's, my 1st center fire revolver. Mine is a NM, and I shot it alot when I was younger. Nowadays i shot it mostly with 32-30 brass, with pistol powders, never cared much for that horrendous muzzle blast and extremely loud crack.

Oh man, that's part of the fun!
A few years ago my buddy bought a small collection of guns and couldn't keep them all. I ended up with the OM 30 Carbine s/n 50xx ( yep ~ 4 digit ) in 98% condition for $600 or so. Of course the original owner had pitched all the boxes to save storage space. 😲
