Stopped in my local pawnshop today to pick up a turquoise bracelet that I bought for my wife and the owner said “ get your checkbook out today’s going to be expensive “. He walk in the back and came out with this unaltered 3 screw Blackhawk and said I’ll take $550 for it. So I guess I’ll be bringing it home in 10 days after the waiting period is over for him buying it from the individual this morning. Ruger website says it was made in 1971. It has sat in a closet for quite some time needs a good cleaning.

The grips are fugly but it's not like you REALLY had a choice.
Hope you have some brass. I had a bit of a challenge coming up with some when I got mine.

Haven’t even begun to look for brass, ammo or dies yet. I’ll just get it home for now and maybe go shoot it this fall. I’m in no hurry to shoot it just get it cleaned up iced back! gotta lot of projects going on right now and was expecting for one to fall into my lap but sure glad it did! I’m not a fan of the grips on it either my run some of them down between now and then.

My new model came with black plastic Ruger grips. First thing I did was buy a new set from Ruger. The only Wood grips they had at the time were Rosewood and Laminate, no Walnut. They look okay for the most part, still better than plastic ;)

The rosewood grips are on the New Model at the bottom.

Strider45,, it would have had to been no earlier than 1968 as that was the first year of production. And if it's a 4-digit gun under 9304,, it's a 1968 gun. in 1969,, they added the prefix of 50-xxxxx.
While $98 seems such a small price,, in 1968 or so,, it was still a fair amount.
