Plan on going to the range with the new BlackHawk tomorrow. Picked up some of the 327 ammo today. 100 rounds will be enough to start.

Keep us posted on how it shoots. Great find on the ammo. Almost as hard to find as the gun.

Mine came yesterday from Accusport. From what my dealer said they have quite a few in stock. They did not have any ammo which is fine for now. I have plenty of 32 H&R Mag on hand.

Fit and finish is as good at my Accusport 45 Convertible Bisley. Nice laminated rosewood grips. We'll see how it shoots. I paid a few dollars more than Marshal Buckshot by the time our 7% tax was added.

Range Report: It was cool, damp and windy today here in central KY. We went to the range anyway. I shot the new 327 BlackHawk with the 100 gr Federal Softpoint ammo. The box says 1500 fps and the website shows 1400 fps.

Offhand at 25 yards, I did ok despite the shakes and shivers, about 5" groups. :? I can do better once I get to know the gun well enough.

I did bring my bags to shoot from. The gun printed a little low for the rounds I shot but right at a 3" grouping for all 8 shots from a cylinder. Not enough shooting to tell much really. I was a little too excited to get the best out of the gun today. :)

It was surreal to put 8 anythings in a full size BlackHawk revolver. One of the other guys there shooting thought I was done after 6 and started to take his hearing protection off. I heard him and let him know I had 2 more to go.

I also noted that the noise and blast is quite a bit sharper than 32 Mags. The recoil is no big issue in a 46 oz gun but you do know the trigger has been pulled. I think I will like it but will probably work to develop a load for the 115gr. bullet Dad casts.

The trigger is just fair but I have been spoiled by several excellent triggers lately in 2 SBH Hunters (45 Colt & 44 Mag), a 41Mag BH and the Lipsey's 44 SPL I got this fall. It will be better after more use I am sure.

Today is my birthday and this made it a memorable one for sure. The 32 H&R may have been "questionable" to some as a self-defense round but I don't honestly see how someone could say a 327 is not "enough". Ammo issues aside, it is easier to manage the recoil and you get 6 instead of 5 in a small package like SP101, S&W 632 or Taurus small frame.

I wonder when/if the LCR will be out in 327 or if the polymer can take the pressures. I want one if they do ( Big surprise, I never met a 32 I didn't like).

I see some coyote hunting in my future. 243 Win at 100 yds+, SBH Hunter at 50-100 yds and 327 BH at 49 or less. I can see it. :D

My thinking is the 327 Blackhawk should make a dandy outdoorsmans/woods loafing gun.

I like the 32 H&R (I have 4 of them) so a true magnum 32 is interesting.

I also have a Buckeye 32-20 but I don't soup the loads up for it.

I like 32s.

My original thought on the 327 was it was DOA. I still think it may go the way of the 32 H&R, around for a short while and then dropped, with ammo a mail order proposition, not to be found at the LGS. I'm used to that, however, as I shoot a number of oddball cartridges.

32 mag fan thanks! Well written. Happy Birthday.

I have been shooting the 327 for some time now. I use a 118 grain GC bullet on H110 powder with excellent results. Use a chrono to work up. I also use small pistol mag primers. If you are a bullet caster and are interested in what should prove the best 327 bullet look at this link.

2 dogs,

Thanks for the link. My dad cast a 90 gr RN and a Lee 115gr that we mainly use in our 32's. I also have several boxes of HBWC that followed me home over the years. I'm thinking the 327 will need a GC design at the velocities it will be attaining. Do most folks use 30 Cal or 8mm Gaschecks for the 32 as they don't make .312-.314 ones that I can find?

Thanks,

I dont know which size gas check yet, but it wont be a problem as both sizes arent hard to get and I have both on hand here at the shop.

Inherited two .41 mags from my Dad. No cheapo ammo for those either.
