Hi all,

I am looking for a set of Bisley Vaquero KRBNV-455-I simulated ivory grips. The original ones have been scrimshawed with a scorpion. Although this seems to have been done by a craftsman I personally do not really like it.

Since I cannot seem to find a set of original ones (if someone has a set for sale or knows a place where they are still for sale please let me know) I am considering after market grips.

I have found several alternatives (listed below).

* AJAX ($29.95, -: no medallion)
http://www.ajaxcustomgrips.com/AjaxPolymer.html

* Hogue ($59.95, -: no medallion)
http://www.hogueinc.com/store/products/ruger-bisley-ivory-polymer-cowboy-panels/134

* Ruger: HOGUE SIM IVORY BISLEY GRIPS ($61.95, +: medallion)
http://shopruger.com/Hogue-Sim-Ivory-Bisley-Grips/productinfo/19920/

* Altamont ($59.95, -: no medallion)
http://grips4guns.com/pistol_grips/1614017.html

* Boone Trading Company ($45 + $15, +: medallion)
http://www.boonetrading.com/Ruger-Simulated-Grips.html

* Eagle grips ($89.95, +: medallion, -: gunfighter style)
https://www.eaglegrips.com/all-ruger-bisleys/349-ruger-bisley-ivory-polymer-gunfighter-grips-with-genuine-ruger-medallions.html

Which ones are good or bad quality? Which ones are closest to the original? Who made the original ones? Did I miss any?

Thanks,

The originals are Lett and no longer made Hogue are the new makes but the material is different. I have a set of the original grips which I bought as replacements when I break mine. I have not been using them however so I have not broken any. They were costly at $129 plus $10 from Ruger. I would sell them and take a small loss at $90 shipped to you

I'm sure one of the gripmakers here (CLC Custom Grips comes to mind) could install the medallions on any set of grips you wish to supply to him.

I ordered the Boone Trading Co. simulated ivory for my .44 special flattop and am extremely happy. Very nice! I got mine with black eagle medallions installed and aged.
