Hi guys I was recently given a 9 1/2" bicentennial ruger 22. It has made in the 200th year of liberty on the top of the barrel. It is unfired, has the original receipt, original manuals and packing wax paper. I havent really found any info on it but would like to know more about it

There were an estimated 6,800 produced. Quite a few really at the time, although the 4-5/8" and 9-1/2" lengths have always been considered desireable. You have what would be referred to as a "condition rarity". There were quite a few Liberty collectors in years past, but these have dwindled down through the years...collections bought and sold, guns taken out of inventory and used, boxes lost or destroyed etc.
As NIB condition you have a great gun there!

Welcome to the Forum!
As Chet15 has mentioned above,, they are desirable in that model & length. But the BIGGEST thing is the condition. The Bicentennials only bring a premium over regular guns if in the condition you seem to have. As to value,, as noted there used to be a number of "Liberty" collectors, but they do seem to be fewer nowadays. But as most of us collectors like such things,, a price for yours would most likely be in the $50-$100 over a similar model not marked with the Liberty statement. Most Liberty guns only bring an average premium of about $50 to $75 but yours is a bit more desirable in that model,, and you have the shipper. It all adds a little to the package.

Basically it looks like I scored big here. Heres the story behind me getting it.
A guy came into the shop with a thompson and I helped him get the mag out. He asked if I work on anything (gun wise) and I told him yeah. He came back a little while later with a 22 rifle and this. He asked if I could clean up the 22 and find out what it was. When I said yeah he asked if I had a Ruger like that. When I said no, he gave it to me. Im pretty sure he was the nicest person Ill ever meet
