BFR .25 Hornet Rear Sight

I have a BFR 10" .25 Hornet that I took to the range today. Shot great groups but was about 8 inches low at 25yards. This was with the Rear sight all the way up and the front sight as the shortest blade I can use(without looking at the base). The rear sight seams to be the same as the Ruger (DM serial number). Is there a blade that is taller that will fit in the original rear sight?

I think you should call Magnum Research and see if they can't send you out the right front sight. If they don't know which one to send you, tell them to send one of each so's you'll be shore to get the right one! Possibly yours is "extra high", they also have "high", "medium", "low"... I've had to have higher sights before and they just shipped 'em right out - after acusing the shooter of flinching or whatever! :?

I believe that's because most folks always blame the equipment and never consider it's operator error. Sometimes it may well be the equipment, sights in this case, but from my own experience and from reading many a forum thread, it's most often the operator.

.25 Hornet is one of the oldest wildcat ctgs. and one of the best IMO--easy to make, easy to load, quiet, and efficient. Never had one in a handgun, tho, just single shot rifles.

Not the fault of Magnum Research it is a custom and the front sight was replace with a Weigand couldn't stand the stock one. The front base is just so much taller have a blade that is about .150" in it. As it came from the factory in .22 Hornet it shot spot on. Just hoping someone new a lade for the Ruger Blackhawks that was a different height for the rear.

Neat cartridge. Did Magnum Research chamber it thru their custom shop or was it done by someone else?
