I promised a couple more shots of my recently acquired plum 1965 Single Six. It looks great in the sun. And, the more I look at it- I doubt it has more than a few cylinders worth of ammo through it.

Don’t worry about that. She’s one of my favorites. Right up there with the 1968 .44 Super I bought from WMG. I’ve gotten to the point that I really enjoy collecting these older Single Sixes. And I also have pretty much decided they all future Rugers I buy will be 3 screw. Y’all showed me the light…Wow, that is just flat GREAT looking. Be careful though, there are a good number of collectors out there that will try to talk you out of it.![]()
As you can see some do some don't. The mystery of RugersWhy do some turn plum quicker than others?
That’s a beauty! I really love the plum look. Those grips look great too! Here is a "plum" Single Six that I bought used in 1972 at a gunshop in Atlanta. Price, out the door, was the princely sum of $65 including tax! A previous owner had added the stag grips and the adjustable Micro sights. A picture:
That was in direct sunlight. But even under indoor lights it’s the most vivid color I’ve ever seen-THAT is about the reddest frame I have seen in some 68 years!
