I'm well over 50 and wear a cap unless I'm in bed. and I do wear bill forward except when I'm on the boat or riding my MC.. then its a helmet and the cap is stuffed in my back pocket. I also actually take pics with a camera..no cell phone..and its bill back. Its all common since and convenience and I don't give a hoot what other folks think...

Unless you're shooting scope or a bow, wear the bill in front to shield your eyes.

I'll turn mine around when I'm having to go through any place with low hanging stuff.

All of the above, plus if I'm working/ fishing with the sun directly behind me to protect my neck. Also there are times I have to turn it backwards or my glasses fog up.

I learned a long time ago to do what is practical and not be a slave to fashion or etiquette.

Most of the time I wear welding caps they are made to be worn backwards. Or to one side to cover an ear

Stupidest looking fashion statement that I've ever seen.
Not crazy about the look, but I've done it to keep my ears from getting burnt. I prefer a full brim hat if I know Ill be in the sun. Tilly makes good ones.

I see motorcyclists doing it , so it doesn't blow off . I always think it portrays a message of "look at me, I am a bad a ## " . Or a gang member .
You're a moron!

This is my 50th year riding Harleys and I wear my hat backwards while riding.
Here's my advice to you. The next time you see someone on a motorcycle wearing his hat backwards, go up and see if he's a bad ass. Or a gang member.

World is full of f*cking idiots and you've just proven you're one.

Seriously, DO NOT go up and see if they are a bad ass. There's a good chance you'll be using your health insurance if you do.

EDITED TO ADD: Apparently you're not too intelligent so let me explain. If you wear your hat with the brim forward (normal) while riding, it will blow off. Now, write that down, and read it several times, and then, maybe you'll understand.

So many decisions . . .
Front or back?
Flat or stylishly rolled? (How much roll?)
Emblem on front? What kind? NRA maybe?
Camo? Service branch?
Adjustable for size or specific size?
Solid cap or mesh back?

Front. Rolled, but not over much. Emblems OK. Camo OK. Adjustable, but NOT with the plastic pegs. Velcro or adjustable buckle only. Solid cap.

What I can't stand are the morons that wear caps over their ears, and with a perfectly flat brim that still has the sticker on it.

It would take a right smart hat the shade this beak of mine, but otherwise look at the shadow line, the hat's working.

After having a second cancerous tumor cut off me this year, & 5-7 more pre-cancers frozen, I shall be wearing a wider brim than this if I plan on more prolonged exposure.

Only time I ever wore a cap backwards was on my motorcycle just to keep it from blowing off. Always wore the bill forward and curved. I play disc golf and the fad there is wearing bill forward but the bill is fairly large and perfectly flat, I don't care for that look but it's just an age thing probably. I'm 79 and I'm paying the price of just wearing a baseball cap all my life, always having to have pre-cancerous spots taken off and two that were cancerous. My dermatologist told me one of the worst things to ever happen was back in the 1960's when all of the seed companies started giving baseball caps with a seed logo on it to all of the farmers. Prior to that most farmers would wear straw hats that kept the sun off of their necks and ears. I was a farm kid and never wore a cap and he said that it's your sun exposure in your youth that comes back to bite you later on.

For those who are critical about flat brims.

They are usually fitted New Era 59FIFTY onfield hats. The brim is wider if you curl the brim the corners dig into your temples if you have a round head

They fit and are worn differently than the 47brand style casual hats. Which are always curled and also have soft crowns.

I agree about the stickers. Leaving the stickers started as a hoodlum shop lifting thing. They would go into a store and casually swap hats for a new one.

Don't wear caps very often. Just don't like the feeling of something on my head. If I have a cap on, it means one of two things. I need a haircut and my hair is unruly, or we're at an outdoor event and I'm trying to keep the sun out of my eyes. I have to wear them loose or I tend to get headaches…so that limits things a lot. Now, my son and my son-in-law wear caps all the time. They are both in their 30's and don't have any hair up top.

Sorta funny timing in this thread- I found a pic of me from about 1995 the other day. Seems appropriate to post it here. Thats a Marlin 336 in 30/30. How time flies- today all my facial hair is mostly gray. And my son-in-law has the 30-30.

Backwards ballcap, i have seen pics of ww2 aircraff and motorpool mechanics wear them to keep stuff out of their hair, and from going down between collar and neck, sun off the neck, and a teensey bit of armor protection, but not while they were not working (out-of-uniform regs). Have done same myself for same reasons. Now, as a gangsta-thang, did not mean which gang, but from eastwood's everywhich way buttloose, where he made a show of turning it around, Now We Are Meaning Business, prior to commencing activities, which became iSi, soy listo!
The beltline-below-buttline thing has been said as a marker of Having Served Time in Certain Institutions, cos you get issued oversize pants and no belts. But then theres Cantinflas, and his semi-disestablishmentarianism, also said to originate the bum-out style, before it became a prison-marker, afterwhich the inmates specifically selected pants in just the right oversize, in recognition of his manner.

I am 69 years old my thought on this is I think after a certain age say 50 you are too old to wear your cap backwards. It's for the younger guys just my opinion
So, a 70 year old welder should wear his cap brim-forward? How about a 70 year old catcher?
Maybe you should do you and let other people do themselves?
IMHO

Never did like ball caps nor most hats. I have a western style my wife bought me and a wear it on occasion. Funny thing , when I was going for chemo and later radiation, I wore the hat to hide my very naked scalp. Damned if it didn't turn some of the ladies and nurses on. Made that somewhat miserable itme frame almost pleasurable.
