Plenty here in West KY, about a week now. Two feeders up and just finished watching several feed while I drank coffee.

Carpenter Bees have been here for about 2 weeks.

Just the other day I saw something I'd never seen before. I have a large crockery dog style watering dish that I keep filled for the birds and rabbits. A humming bird was drinking water from it. He did not sit on the rim and drink. He hovered over the middle of the bowl and stuck his bill into the water to drink.

He needs more than water. It's a long flight from Nevada to where you are. I fed them well all winter. Tag you are it. 4 parts water to 1 part sugar. He may watch TV with you also.

I get more road runners than hummingbirds.

Has some last year but none so far in SE KY. Good post, needed a reminder to get some nectar for the feeder.

No humming birds, but the carpenter bees are back in force. In the past, I spent many entertaining hours smashing them with a badminton racquet. Between the bum shoulder and walking cane I'm not going to play that tournament this year.
For a challenge, I use a wiffle ball bat on the carpenter bees. Love the sound it makes.

I’ll have to make up some food and fill up the hummingbird feeders this week.

No hummingbirds here as of yet. Wifey LOVES hummingbirds, so the feeder is up in spring and fall, or as soon as we see them in the flowers. When we lived in Des Moines, IA, at one point we were on the second floor (top floor) of our building and had a really cool deck that had a trellis overhead. We hung the hummingbird feeder off the edge of the overhead trellis, and wow! We had families of hummingbirds there, and even saw some fights when strange hummingbirds (non family) tried to get to the feeder. Not much I'd rather see than a hummingbird. 😍

I saw the first one on Friday. I’d been hearing them for a couple of days prior to that. I’m in the northern reach of the Chihuahuan Desert in what passes for mountains in Texas.

Some years past we have had hummingbirds overwinter. That stopped in the winter of 2021, which had a few days of single digit temperatures.

I’ve had them here for about two weeks maybe a little longer. I didn’t put my feeder up until I saw a few outside looking for it from years past. I had a couple of them in a big fight yesterday, but doesn’t seem to be nearly as many as we used to see. Hope that’s not a bad sign of something.

From Hubbardston Massachusetts,
I put a feeder out at the beginning of the month, and one Ruby Throated Hummer came about 3 days ago.
Such a marvelous creation of God.

Like I said most have left to go back to you guys. Too hot in the summer. We will be in the high 90s this week. Last summer we were 110 and up for weeks. One of the hummers that stays all year just looked through the window. He wanted in. With time they will perch on your finger. Settled for a drink and left. Need to make more food. 4 parts water 1 part sugar.
