No the GP100 has never been chambered in 45 Colt, however it would sure be cool it they did. S&W never did one on the L-Frame. S&W did make a 6 round on the N-frame, the 625. The 625 was also chambered in 45 ACP. I don't recall which dash numbers where which. S&W also builds the governor which is a 6 round 45 colt/ 45 acp / 410 combo build on a stretched N-frame. Taurus builds their version of the same in 5 round called the Judge. A few years back Taurus did build a 5 shot GP100 sized revolver in 45 Colt called the 450 UL. I'm pretty sure the only current production 5 shot 45 Colt double action revolver is the Charter Arms mentioned above. I have no experience with any of these revolvers except the S&W 625. If you can find one and afford one buy it, you wont be disappointed. I keep hoping that Ruger will someday make one, but I have my doubts.

If you want a smaller .45 revolver in 5 shot I would look at Charter and I think Taurus made some at one time in several conafigurations.

I have a Governor and they are 6 shot and on the X Frame. The Taurus versions are smaller and 5 shot but still huge.

I like the Governor very much and it is handy for an "in the house" gun as I live in the woods and critters show up from time to time. (Biggest possum I have ever seen in my life showed up at the bottom of my front steps as I was letting the little dogs out at 3:00 AM. Surprised ALL of us!!)

The Smith 69 has room for 45 colt.
Doing one now.
This is interesting! Are you doing the work yourself or is a shop doing it? How is the sleeved barrel being done? Love to see some pictures when finished.

It is a two piece barrel so it makes it very easy.
I'll do it.
John Linebaugh thought it would make a good balanced gun but S&W never did it.
Removing it barrel when a two piece is much easier than a one piece.
And no timing the barrel!!!!!
It's one of a half dozen revolver builds I'm in the middle of.
Check in once in a while if I forget to post here

Would this .45 conversion be limited to standard .45 Colt load pressures or up to .45 ACP level?

It's is a 44 magnum of originally......36,000
So you take out about .010" on the outside wall.
Same as a model 25 Smith.
45 acp is fine.
Read John Linebaugh write up on S&W 45 Colt loads.
Sent you a PM

I have a Taurus Judge Magnum. (3" cylinder"). Love it. 45 Colt/410. They come with different size barrel lengths. Great shooter & home defense.

A 500L Maximum in a 5 shot makes a nice shot shell round.
Doing a paradox in that
Basically a short 32 gauge. So I'll get a bit more shot in.
