My uncle gave me his "WW II - navy years" Schrade 3-blade folding knife many years ago. He'd sharpened it so often that the blades were only 1/2 their original width. Still have it. Never carry it. It has too many fond memories to put at risk of loss (something I do all too often).
I used to carry a Schrade or Case 2-blade folder. But when I went to work (1975 after college) and started travelling I learned a valuable lesson. Once the airports began screening passengers for weapons, I forgot to leave my knife in the car (or stow it in my checked luggage) and it got confiscated. Ouch.
I now have a variety of folders from all of the usual suspects, plus a couple of K-bars (one of which I was issued while in the military). But rarely do I carry them - well, except for a couple of "cheap" NRA giveaways that I pack when doing chores around the yard.
I don't fish or hunt, so there's not a need for any knives used for such endeavors.
Fascinated by them? Yes. Addicted to them? No.
