Working on an 1894 JM marked Marlin 44mag.

Lever actions... they looked so "cowboy" and old-fashioned to me. Swore I'd never buy one of those things. Then at the range in 2010 my friend brought his 1895 .45-70 Marlin... I shot it; couldn't believe how much fun it was. So I bought one and started reading about Marlin and their history. Got the book. I have a scope for mine, but haven't yet mounted it:

Cool , just something about the JM's . Wish I had bought more of them when they were not so "collectible "😀 👍👍

I wanted one in .35 Remington; I love that round even though the near-defunct .358 Win should've made it obsolete. I actually bought .35 Rem ammunition years before I had anything to shoot it in. Then in 2018 at a mid-state gun show I found it: a 1966 Marlin 336 RC in .35 Rem. Reasonably good shape. I bought it and a while later put a period-correct Weaver K4 on it.

This is 11 rounds from it during sight-in:

may I ask why ? Cause I guess I making an excuse to not fire mine

Just too many guns - some from 2001 that I haven't shot yet.

But I don't believe in safe queens - I fully intend to shoot every gun I have. Even if I had a real Colt SAA, very old or brand new, I would shoot it.

Also, for me, shooting is a social activity - I like to go out to the range with friends . If they don't go, I usually won't go. Lastly, I have other .357's that I've shot a fair bit, so when I do go out to shoot I tend to choose a gun with a caliber I haven't shot in a while.

... Gotta lose those AA looking grips.

AA looking? What is AA? I like the red triangle.

Stay away from S&W they won't stand behind their guns (buy a Ruger). I had an S&W Model 340 AirLite .357 Magnum. I was firing it using Factory .38 specials. It blew up in my hand, cracked the cylinder and broke the frame.
I sent it to S&W and they send back the pieces of the gun and told me to send them $600.00 to buy another one.
B S - Screw S&W. I will never buy another S&W! Ruger stands behind their guns! Buy a Ruger!

Which factory ammo? Where did you get it? Did you contact the factory? Also, I would expect S&W would want a sample of the ammo. Even a .38 Special +P shouldn't blow up a .357 magnum revolver because the pressures are still less than .357

I was a gun-a-month club member until August. Well, long story but I did have to redo a background check on an earlier purchase. Don't think that counts though.

I've decided before buying any more I really need to pay off that pesky credit card. Between Chig's grips and Ronnie Wells I've put some hurt on it.

Nothing is ever planned…… but my eyes are always open to the ones I like that may pop up here and there!
This rare set wasn't planned but will be here this week. I have never seen before another consecutive set that Colt actually put together in a factory box! From a personal collection of a nationally known Colt collector and dealer who believes it may be the only known set!

That's pretty nice - and from 1964! So... will you shoot one or both of them?

I seem to go on rips of gun purchases. 3-4 in as many months then perhaps 3 years not much at all. Those quiet months are many times filled with refinement of the recently acquired. This summer was one of the rips, the reason I showed up here 😁.

Many of those guns that have been coming home are upgrades to what I have. Dare I say I might start divesting. Family members might start finding steel under the Christmas tree.

I can't remember if I ever PLANNED to buy any of my 'collection' except the ROCS Bearcat. My last purchase was a SP 101 and I saw it while visiting my local FFL store. The price was right so I got it.
