My wife suprised me for our 50th wedding anniv. with an original Vaquero in .45 Colt. It is stainless with a 5 1/82" barrel and has nice "Cowboy holster." I had gone by the pawn shop of a friend of ours a few months back and had seen the gun and holster (they were being sold on consignment as a set.) I remarked to my wife that I thought the price was too high and I would feel conspicious wearing the holster rig. I dismissed the gun even though it is a mate to my other Vaquero which is also stainless but in .44 Mag and has a 7 1/2" barrel. Both are beautiful guns.

My question is: the .45 Colt's Serial # is: 57-37XXX. I can't find this sequence on the Ruger website to determine when it was manufactured. The .44 Mag's Serial # is: 56-39XXX.

Any help from the Ruger experts appreciated.

Grampie not Grumpie

ps: My wife said when she went to see the gun she asked why I would want a gun almost identical to one I already had. The shop owner smiled and said "why do you have more than one ring on your hands?"
