During World War II an American fighter pilot, fighting in the South Pacific, escaped from an air battle with damage to his P-40. He nursed his plane back to the field but crashed just short of a runway. He was treated at the base hospital, but was unresponsive. Still unconcious, he was transferred to an Austrailian hospital.
He woke up the next day, amazed at his now luxurious surroundings, as an olive drab tent and canvas cot had been his usual bedroom. Seeing a nurse standing nearby, he groaned, "Did I come her to die?"
The nurse beamed and replied, "Oh, no Sir. You came here yesterdie."
