The brown truck finally delivered my Amoskeag Auction prize.. 44 flattop serial number 25, with engraved/carved factory walnuts.. This gun must have been held back/shipped late, due to having the later style bookwrap shipper and a 9/1/59 manual inside..This was Ed Nolan's number, and during correspondence with Charles Jerrod during the engraving project they made reference to Jerred engraving some walnut grips in oak leaf pattern to see if they wanted to market them..they never did but Jerred apparently did up a pair or two..and this pair being on Nolan's gun...hmmm.
There are no initials carved on the back of the grips, so can't say 100 percent, yet..

Mike, please tell me you got the BKH3 too.......RR

I have a wood block that Jerred mounted the grips on so he could fasten them in a vise to make it easier to carve them.....

Send me the grips and I can see if they fit    RR.

Very nice I had it in my hands for about 5 minutes I went up there for the single six and it was killing me that the other #25s were going off first I thought I would let you and RR go at it on the bearcat Talk about stress    I backed out at $2400 or $2500 I don't remember with the buyers premium shipping and transfers it was getting to high I left the gotta have it factor home My wife was pumping me to go higher oh well

Very nice Flattop! Here are some more #25 guns I just found on Cabelas website.

Mike. I envy your purchase. You were successful on the best gun of the pile! It should be fun to seek out the back ground of those carved grips? Great to see you partner up with the #26 too. They will make a great display along with the history of the original owners. Great job Mike. Brass Frame/Lee
