Not stupid at all.

SAAMI info I have shows . . .

9mm std pressure 35,000PSI, +P pressure 38,500PSI

.38SPL, 17,000 & 18,500

.45ACP, 21,000 & 23,000

These pressure increases only gain you approximately 100FPS in velocity.

These are the only real +P handgun rounds acknowledged by SAAMI.

I am not an expert nor do I play one on the internet.

Welcome to RugerForum.

Generally speaking, +P is 10% hotter .... which is negligible ... and not worth paying the huge premium for. The End.

I kind of agree.... I think for defensive ammo I would probably buy the box of +P hydroshocks.... for the not likely once in a lifetime event that might occur.

as for just practice and targets, no way. doesn't matter what caliber it is.

Oh and on the 2nd list from buck345.... didn't you leave out the standard pressure on the 38 super? I didn't realize there was such a different between the standard 38 and the 38 super (auto)

The 38 super is billed as the auto-loader equivalent of the 357mag. It is close. :D

These days the .38 Super is frequently listed as a +P round to distinguish it from the older, similar .38 Auto which was a 26,500PSI loading as shown in Buck's list.
