I went to the local gun shop yesterday. If was the first time I have gone there in a year. Well I was shocked. I have never seen so much ammo in my life. They have a side room about 25 by 15. They had ammo stacked on the floor 3 ft high. I have seen post on AA for auctions where they are selling the ammo in cases and going there I see why. MY local walmart has almost n ammo, Dunhans, Dicks almost no ammo. This place had anything you could want. I only looked at a few boxes to see I would not be buying any however. 223 was $198 for 200 rounds, Sounds like $1 a round to me. I looked a 9mm and 380 they were in the $.80 range. The place was fill with people which in the past only happens in hunting season, not in the middle of the summer. Folks were buying ammo like you would not believe. I think the best answere is to not buy any ammo or components. Take a break, buy nothing shoot nothing. I could take a year off. If everyone did this the prices on ammo would be way way less. Production has to be way up what will they do with it if we stop buying???

5card.... YOU PEGGED IT BROVVA. The answer will always revolve around 'supply and demand'. If you like paying exorbitant prices, buy now. Otherwise just stop buying and let the thieves eat their own poop. I bought a Prius ONLY BECAUSE I like to drive yet, decided to cut my gas consumption by more than 50%; all this ONLY because of the prices. John N.

Do a search for ammobot.com . You'll get a few links, some of which shows up to date pricing (often within a few minutes) from most every vendor out there. What you'll discover is that the going price for quality .223/.556 FMJ ammo is presently running .47-.60 per round, depending on who's got it and how much you buy. If you're into steel-cased stuff, it's even cheaper. You'll need to figure shipping too, but every link to every vendor that I've checked has a shipping calculator.
Simular deals can be found on might-near any other caliber too.

Ever wonder where the gougers are getting the ammo that they are doubling their money on?.....well, there it is.
