American predator in 6.5 Grendel

Help Support Ruger Forum:

Hi BIG OLD BOY,
I did a full spectrum test on the rifle shortly after it was announced.....and you're right it is really neat !
Just like the rest of the "Americans" the rifle is well balanced, ergonomically sculpted, has a great trigger that's adjustable,
and the guns are dead-nuts accurate !! Recoil is very mild (factory recoil pad perhaps ??)

Some "Factory" and reload results for your information (All shot @ 100 yards)

* Alexander Arms 123 Gr. (Lapua) ammo @ 2512 FPS, and put (4) shots into .575"
* Federal "Fusion" 120 Gr. S.P. ammo @ 2571 FPS, and put (4) shots into 1.1"
* Hornady "Match" 123 Gr. ELD-M ammo @ 2532 FPS, and put (4) shots into 1.1"

**Reloads**
* 85 Sierra HP w/H335 (Load development) (3 loads) @ 2932-302 FPS (4) shots ea. .650"-.750"
* 95 Gr. Hornady A-Max w/H335(Load development) (3 loads) @ 2834-2930 FPS (4) shots ea. .875"-1.25"
* 100 Gr. Hornady A-Max w/H335(Load development) (3 loads) @ 2731-2866 FPS (4) shots ea. .925"-1.1"
* 120 Gr. Hornady ELD-M w/CFE223 (Load development) (3 loads) @ 2568-2692 FPS (4) shots ea. .940"-1.1"
* 123 Gr. Hornady ELD-M w/CFE223 (Load development) (3 loads) @ 2525-2626 FPS (4) shots ea. .725"-.775"

You'll not be disappointed in a "Grendel" if you purchase one.....and it's hard to beat the price point for such an
accurate, reliable and just plain fun gun.
As a matter of fact I currently own (2) rimfire "American" and (6) Center-Fire, 204 Ruger/ 223 Rem/ 6MM Creedmoor/
6.5 Grendel/ 7.62X39 & 300 Win Mag............and they are all "BORING"......whatever you aim at ........You hit it !!

I also have a 6.5 creadmore 300 bo and a 22 as you said all are great shooters, I may get the Grendel for myself and give the creadmore to my son.

I appreciate you listing your loads. I just built an 18" heavy fluted AR in the Grendel.
I am hoping that 125gr Nosler Partitions will run 2500fps out of it. Partition being a little shorter profile I was hoping it would seat out in the neck and still fit in the mag box. I also want to try some longer than mag single shot loads in it like the 127gr Barnes. Manual chamber first round out with what cartridge length you want and then have a decent factory round for your second round in the mag ready to feed 2nd shot. I would probably do that if elk hunting with the Grendel.
Graf & Sons had WOlf steel 100gr for me to be able to do function and sight in stuff with, functions good, hits real hard and decent accuracy
I really like that the 95gr is like short barrel .243 performance, impressive velocity
